Vermont Lake Monsters stumble in Troy

— Ronnie Mitchell had an RBI single in the second and Michael Martinez an RBI single in the third inning as the Tri-City ValleyCats handed the Vermont Lake Monsters the fourth 2-1 loss of the New York-Penn League season Aug. 20 at Bruno Stadium in Troy, N.Y.

Hunter Adkins (0-1) came on in relief of Vermont starter Matt Stalcup, who left after pitching just one inning, and allowed a leadoff double to Connor Gregor in the second.

After Gregor advanced to third on a groundout, Mitchell lined an RBI single to center for a 1-0 Tri-City lead.

It was the first run allowed by Adkins after tossing nine scoreless innings in his first two starts for Vermont.
