Tuesday round-up: Eagles wrap up league title

Yamin's 21 points pace Loudonville Christian

The Loudonville Christian School boys basketball team wrapped up the Central Hudson Valley League title by beating Waterford-Halfmoon 55-32 Tuesday.

Mat Yamin scored 21 points for the Eagles (13-0 league, 15-1 overall), who built a 29-19 halftime lead. Gabe Brown contributed 16 points.

Conner McCrea's seven points paced Waterford-Halfmoon.

In the Suburban Council, Bethlehem pulled away for a 51-40 victory over Colonie. The Eagles (12-2, 14-2) used a 14-4 second-quarter run to take command.

John Sica netted 14 points, while Myles Bergere and Nate Kane each chipped in with 11 points for Bethlehem, which clinched at least a tie for the Suburban Council South Division title. Jake Samuels' 16 points led Colonie (6-8, 7-9).

Girls basketball

A big first half helped Shaker defeat Saratoga Springs 64-48 in Tuesday's Suburban Council girls basketball game in Latham.

The Blue Bison (13-1, 15-1) pulled ahead 35-14 in the first half, and they never looked back in clinching the North Division title for the second year in a row.

Madison Rowland led three Shaker players in double figures with 19 points. Lauren Duffey contributed 11 points, and Jenny Barra added 10 points.

Ann Mahoney had 12 points for Saratoga (5-9, 6-10).

Elsewhere, Shenendehowa had little trouble with Ballston Spa in a 63-19 victory. The Lady Plainsmen (10-4, 12-4) raced out to a 16-1 lead in the first eight minutes before cruising to the 44-point win.

Carly Boland poured in 19 points for Shen, while Paige Gallo led Ballston Spa (2-12, 3-13) with eight points.
