Harold W. Kelp passed away at home at the age of 92 on Wednesday, AUgust 8, 2012. He was born in 1920 in Albany, NY to Werner and Anna Kelp. He graduated from Bethlehem Central High School and Albany Business College. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Dorothy A. Radaker, and together they raised and educated three children. Harold is survived by his daughter Lisa Morton and her husband Thomas of Delmar, NY; his son Mark of Gilman, IL; and his daughter Nancy Heffelfinger of Glenmont, NY. Cherished Poppa of Katie Lynne and Jeffrey Morton, Samantha and D. Michael Heffelfinger, Jr. and loving brother to Elsa Marie Kelp of Delmar, NY as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Harold was a proud World War II veteran serving in the US Army Air Force in the Pacific Theatre. Upon discharge, he entered the building business with his father building private homes and dairy barns for the local farmers. Harold was a Loss Control Supervisor with Utica Mutual Insurance Company. He received the Senior Lifetime-Achievement Award, served as a board member of the Tri-Village Directory and was a member of the American Society of Safety Engineer as well as the American Legion. Harold was an active member of the First United Methodist CHurch of Delmar where he served as Head Usher for memorial services for many years. After that he began his duties as Sergeant-At-Arms at the Tuesday Men's Fellowship Breakfast.
Friends and family met Sunday, August 12th in the lounge of the First United Methodist Church of Delmar and the funeral service was held on Monday, August 13th in the church's sanctuary.
